|Prior to landing the part of the bitchy and cold-hearted Ling Woo on "Ally McBeal," Lucy Liu didn't have much of a career. She appeared in an episode of "The X-Files," as well as handled a few small-time roles in shows and films. While her portrayal of the fierce Ling Woo had gained her a permanent spot in the "McBeal" cast line-up, she gained fame among moviegoers as Alex in the modernized version of the classic TV series "Charlie's Angels," beside established actresses Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. After a coule of appearances in some low-key movies that didn't fare well with movie audiences, she once again picked up the part for a fighting girl from Asia in the form of the Japanese assassin and crime boss, O-Ren Ishii, a major character for "Kill Bill," alongside Hollywood star Uma Thurman and Japanese teen idol Chiaki Kuriyama. She garnered praise for her exquisitely choreographed fight scene with Thurman at the end of the film.||
